Alakol Biosphere Reserve
Alakol Biosphere Reserve is the state nature reserve of Kazakhstan, located on the territory of Alakol region of Almaty region and Urjar district of East Kazakhstan region. Total area 20,743 thousand hectares. The reserve was established in 1998 to preserve the natural complexes, flora and fauna of the Tentek Delta and the unique population of the relict seagull and other colonial birds of Alakol Lake. The uniqueness of nature reserve in the species of fauna such as relict seagull, swan, spoonbill, black-throated loon, white pelican, the bustard. On the territory of the reserve seen argali, saiga, marals, bears and other animals. In 2013, Alakol reserve included in the network of biosphere reserves of UNESCO. In 2018, the Alakol reserve celebrated the 20th anniversary of the organization.
Ushkonyr plateau
Plateau located in the extreme Western part of the Ili Alatau mountains. Over the terrain can often be seen hang-gliders and paragliders, soaring high with the birds. The road to the Ushkonyr plateau rises to an altitude of 1950 meters above sea level, with a wonderful view of the natural landscape.
Kyzylkum desert
Desert located on the territory of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The desert bounded by the Aral Sea in the North-West, the Syr-Darya river in the North-East, with the Tien Shan's spurs in the East and the Amu-Darya In the South-West. The desert is home to various species of snakes and lizards, as well as the for the famous and endangered Central Asian lizard. Kyzylkum is inhabited by adapted to climatic conditions birds and mammals.
Mangyshlak Peninsula
Mangyshlak located in the South-West of Kazakhstan in the Mangystau region. In the depths of the Peninsula found rare ores, rock crystal, copper, manganese, phosphates and other minerals. Mangyshlak is also rich in the presence of all types of landscape, a variety of flora and fauna. Mangyshlak Peninsula is a unique natural treasure.
Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve
Aksu-Zhabagly is one of the first and oldest reserves in Central Asia, located in the southern part of Kazakhstan, in the Western spurs of the Tien Shan, in the Talas Alatau mountains.
Aksu Canyon occupies a key place in the reserve. Aksu Canyon is a paleontological site with ancient rock paintings, about 1800 meters deep.
Aksu-Zhabagly Reserve is home for more than 173 species of flora and to a huge number of birds — 267 species, 11 species of which listed in the Red Book. The reserve is home for more than 60 species of fauna, including rare species of animals such as argali, maral, mountain goat, muskrat, snow leopard.
Asy Plateau
Asy Plateau is a high-mountain valley stretching to the East of Almaty and surrounded by ridges. The plateau located at an altitude of about 3000 meters above sea level. High plateau goes on the river Assy to the East. Along the river Assy there are ancient burial mounds and rock paintings, which are one of the highest clusters of petroglyphs in Kazakhstan. There were found signs of human stay more than 5,000 years ago, as a nomadic and sedentary lifestyle.
