The average exchange rate in Uzbekistan fluctuates around 12 000-13 000 Uzbek soums per US dollar. In Tashkent, it’s still possible to find goods and services that cost no more than $1. We've collected the most interesting and affordable options — from street food to useful little things.


Food & Drinks

Samsa

At bakeries and street stalls, you can buy meat or potato samsa for 10 000-12 000 soums. The cheapest ones are usually found at markets or student canteens.

A cup of tea or coffee

At street cafes or kiosks — from 8000 to 12 000 soums.

Shashlik or kebab

You can find tasty shashlik on the streets of Tashkent for 8000-12 000 soums per skewer.


Groceries


Bread

Traditional tandoor bread costs from 5000 to 8000 soums.

Half a liter of milk, yogurt, or kefir

Dairy products are available for 8000-12000 soums.

Eggs

Depending on the district and the store, you can buy three to five eggs for 11 000-13 000 soums.

Fruits

Prices vary by season, but at local markets you can get fruits sold by weight — around 10 000-12 000 soums per piece.

Bottled water

In regular grocery stores and supermarkets, bottled water costs from 3000 to 12 000 soums.

Soft drinks

Transportation


Metro or bus ride

Public transport fares are 1700 soums when paying by card and 3000 soums for single-use tickets. So with one dollar, you can take up to seven rides.

Scooter rental for 10-15 minutes
Some services charge from 1000 to 1500 soums per minute. So a 7-10 minute ride will cost you about a dollar.

Taxi

If it’s not rush hour and the distance is short, you can get a ride for about a dollar.
