The National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan has partnered with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University of Technology, and leading Chinese tech companies. Together, they have officially opened the Kazakhstan-China Centre for Science and Technology Transfer. As part of this collaboration, they are also creating an International Joint Laboratory for Spatio-Temporal AI and Sustainable Development.
The project will be implemented through cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhejiang University of Technology. The laboratory will help Kazakhstan become a leader in AI, strengthen the training of specialists and integrate international scientific achievements into the country's sustainable development.
The laboratory will focus on:
— monitoring water resources using AI and GIS technologies
— developing early warning systems for catastrophes
— analysing spatio-temporal data to predict environmental changes
— optimising energy resources using intelligent systems, and digitalising agriculture.
