How to spend one day in Baku: where to go and what to see

If you only have one day to enjoy Baku, don’t worry. The city amazes with its blend of ancient history and modernity, and even in just one day, you’ll get to feel its unique atmosphere.

Morning

Old city Icherisheher

Start your day by visiting the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander through the narrow streets, stop by small craft shops, and savor the scents of Eastern sweets. Be sure to visit the Palace of the Shirvanshahs to learn more about the region's history, and don’t miss the Maiden Tower, which offers a stunning view of the surrounding area.

Breakfast at a café

After your walk through the ancient streets, stop by a local café to try a traditional Azerbaijani breakfast, complete with pita, honey, and ayran.

Midday

Seafront boulevard and Flame Towers

After breakfast, head to the seafront boulevard. Take a stroll along the Caspian Sea coast and enjoy the fresh air. Be sure to check out the Flame Towers, one of the most iconic landmarks of modern Baku.

Nizami Street

Once you've had your fill of views, head over to Nizami Street, a great spot for shopping. This street is famous for its shops, boutiques, and numerous cozy cafes and restaurants where you can grab a bite.

Afternoon

Heydar Aliyev Center

This architectural wonder designed by Zaha Hadid is not just an impressive piece of art but also a cultural hub of the city. The center often hosts exhibitions and a variety of cultural events.

Museum of Modern Art

If you have time left, visit the Museum of Modern Art, where you can explore works by both local and international artists.

Evening

Dinner with a view

End your day with dinner at a restaurant offering panoramic views of the city. We recommend “Sky Grill” or “360 Sky Restaurant”.

Baku’s night lights

Don’t rush to leave after dinner. Take a walk along the seafront and watch as the city sparkles with lights.
