The International Documentary Film Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece, scheduled for March 6-16, has announced the lineup of entries for the competition. The list was published on the film forum’s website.
Among them are works from Greece, Paraguay, Israel, Kenya, the USA, and other countries.
The international program features the film Kick-off by directors Rosera Corella and Stefano Obino, filmed in Kyrgyzstan.
In the village of Kok-Tash in Kyrgyzstan, where conservative norms require women to perform only household chores, an activist is organizing a women’s football tournament to challenge these patriarchal traditions.
The Thessaloniki Documentary Festival was founded in 1999 on the initiative of Dimitris Eyepides, who served as the director until 2016.
Ten films selected for the international competition will vie for the “Golden Alexander” and the “Silver Alexander” — the festival’s main awards.
