WE continue explaining you who are these people after whom the country has named the main streets of Astana.


AFTER WHOM KAZAKHSTAN HAS NAMED THE MAIN STREETS OF THE COUNTRY. PART 2

The main Astana streets and avenues are: Momyshuly, Seifullin, Barayev, Koshkarbayev, and Imanov.

Bauyrzhan Momyshuly (1910 —1982) was a Kazakh-Soviet military officer, author and national batyr. He played an important role in military. Momyshuly was called for military service where he was a platoon commander in the Central Asian Military District and later, in September 1941, during World War II, he was sent to the front at the vicinity of Leningrad.

Bauyrzhan Momyshuly was also an erudite and prolific writer. He authored many different books mostly about the war.

Saken Seifullin (1894 — 1939) was a poet, national activist, well-known figure. After the Great October Social Revolution, he wrote a book “Anu-ka, jigit!” which became the first literary work of Kazakh Soviet literature. He became the founder and first head of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan.

Alexander Barayev (1908 — 1985) was a Soviet agriculturist and founder of preservative system of soil. He played an important role during the Virgin Lands Campaign in Soviet Union. There is a plaque dedicated to A. Barayev in Astana and Russian Embassy in Kazakhstan is located on the street named after him.

Raqimzhan Koshkarbayev (1924 —1988) was the first officer who raised the Soviet Flag over the Reichstag building in Berlin during World War II on 30th of April, 1945.

Detailing his efforts in the war, Kazakh studio “Kazakhfilm” screened a movie called “The soldier of Victory. Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev in 1980.

Amangeldy Imanov (1873 — 1919) was one of the leaders of the rebels in the middle Asia in 1916 against Russian ascendance. He took active participation in establishment of Soviet ascendance in Kazakhstan districts. Well-known Kazkah authors have dedicated their works to Amangaldy Imanov. Kazakh Soviet writer - Gabit Musrepov, Akyn and poet — Zhambyl Zhabayev, and Kazakh painter — Abylkhan Kasteev have written extensively about Imanov.
