Goygol
One of the most famous and beautiful lakes in Azerbaijan is located at an altitude of about 1500 meters above sea level, at the foot of the mountains near Ganja. The lake appeared as a result of an earthquake in 1139. In its crystal-clear water, the sky and mountains are reflected, making it a favorite location for stunning photographs.
Maralgol
Not far from Goygol, at an altitude of almost 1900 meters, hides Maralgol — a lake with crystal-clear water and a view of Mount Murovdag. Its name translates as “Deer Lake,” and it fully lives up to its poetic title: all around are silence, alpine meadows, and dense forests. The lake is small in area but deep, up to 60 meters. You can reach it only on foot or by off-road vehicle, but the effort is worth it: the views from the shore are truly magical.
Nohur
A hidden gem of the Gabala region — this lake lies deep between mountain slopes and dense forests. In addition to its picturesque landscapes, Nohur attracts visitors with its easy accessibility, opportunities for fishing, and boat or catamaran rides.
Chenlibel
One of the most popular natural spots in Guba — a lake surrounded by dense forests. Here, tourists can enjoy a calm atmosphere, walk along the shore, have a picnic, or go fishing. In autumn, the place becomes especially picturesque thanks to the vivid colors of nature.
Tufan
The highest mountain lake in Azerbaijan which has preserved its pristine beauty. The location lies on the way to the summit of Mount Tufandag, which makes it quite hard to reach. However, those who do make it to the lake are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the slopes and neighboring lakes.
Karanohur
Not far from Ismayilli lies a high-mountain lake, the ascent to which makes an excellent route for hiking and outdoor recreation enthusiasts.
Batabat
Many call Batabat the “pearl” of Nakhchivan, and it is famous for its unique floating peat island on the surface of the lake. The shores of Batabat Lake are perfect for a summer picnic and peaceful relaxation.
