Where to go for a nature getaway from Dushanbe: 6 beautiful locations for outdoor relaxation

Tajikistan is renowned for its stunning nature, and nothing compares to spending time outdoors. We've compiled a list of six picturesque locations, all just a few kilometers away from the capital, where you can enjoy the beauty of nature and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Nurek

Located just a few kilometers from Dushanbe, the city of Nurek is famous for its picturesque views of the Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station. Here, you’ll find plenty of places for outdoor activities with friends. The surrounding area also features small resort complexes offering spa treatments, swimming pools, and other amenities.

Varzob

Only eight kilometers from Dushanbe, Varzob is the perfect place for a country getaway and to enjoy nature. Outdoor enthusiasts can hike through the scenic Varzob Gorge, where stunning landscapes await.

"Safed-Dara"

The "Safed-Dara" resort, located near Dushanbe, operates year-round. In winter, visitors can ski and snowboard, while in other seasons, they can enjoy hiking, paintball, and grilling kebabs in the open air.

Romit Gorge

Located 45 kilometers from Dushanbe, Romit Gorge offers numerous relaxation zones and great opportunities for hiking. This spot is ideal for those wanting to immerse themselves in nature and spend time outdoors.

Gusgarf Waterfall

The Gusgarf Waterfall, located in Tajikistan on the slopes of the Gissar Mountains, is considered one of the most scenic natural spots in the country. It is popular with tourists and nature lovers due to its breathtaking landscapes. Surrounded by majestic mountains and lush greenery, the waterfall is a perfect place for relaxation and photo shoots.

Siyoma Gorge

Just 55 kilometers from Dushanbe, this is one of the most picturesque spots in the Varzob region, striking with its beauty. The river water sparkles with a bright blue hue and is crystal clear. The trail along the riverbed is calm and well-trodden, though at times it requires climbing up slopes.

In this gorge, you can see glaciers that create natural barriers for the river, almost like bridges crossing its path. Here, you can not only play in the snow but also ski year-round.
