Almost everyone has friends, relatives who live abroad. It is always interesting what do they think about habits, behavior and traditions of Kazakh people. It is important to be polite, outspoken, understandable in such situations. Our friends shared with their opinion about things that surprise them and what do they like in our country.

I liked local traditions. I was told that there is one ceremony when a child chooses one thing which lay right next to him. It could be dombra, whip, etc.

Another interesting tradition is brining sheep’s head to the table. I have never done that but the process of separating head’s parts is really entertaining.
I really like your national costumes. I think this is a reflection of your wealthy and bright side. People are kind and nice. They are very talented in music and poetry. Everyone can see your art in different cultural centers, theaters.

Kazakhstanis love their home country, and I really respect them for that. I like Kazakh traditions, and what is really surprises me is that people adore tea and drink it any time they want.
Also, it is quite dangerous to drive here.

We have been living in Astana for almost two years, and what surprises us is a role of women in your country. It makes a sense that sometimes women can be only a wife. Even if she comes home late, she has to cook, make laundry. Her husband can be in the house but he will be waiting till his wife comes home.

Once our friends come to our home, and there was one girl among them. After she saw dirty dishes in a shell, she decided to wash everything up but we told it was unnecessary and she said that as she is a woman, it is her job to do it you will never hear such words in France.
We don’t say if it is good or bad. It is just our observations.
