I live in Amsterdam for three years. For most tourists, it is a city of freedom with coffee shops and a red light district, but for me, Amsterdam is completely different. The city is cosy and comfortable with many parks, museums and unique places. Each house has a rich history and culture. The Dutch lead an active lifestyle, and they play sports, cycle, eat healthy food, smile and just enjoy life.
Het Concertgebouw
The place whereon Wednesdays held lunch-concerts rehearsals of artists that can be visited for free. The difference is the performers are not in concert looks. For example, I recently attended a Royal Orchestra rehearsal.
Seafood bar
One of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam. Wonderful, friendly atmosphere and a nice crowd. Great service and nice prices. Despite the city has a lot of them, everywhere a comfort and good conditions.
Albert Cuyp Market
A place where you can buy real Dutch waffles. They cook in front of you and smear them with caramel or Nutella. There you can also eat famous herring sandwiches.
Hannekes Boom
Numerous beach cafes with parties on the North Sea coast in Bloemendaal an Zee. A real hipster place where Dutch youth likes to gather.
Vondelpark
A place for sports all year round. There you can have a walk with family, cycle and have a picnic during the summer among thousands who also like to spend time outdoors. And if you are attentive then you will see flocks of green parrots that live in the Park.
Amsterdam Forest
A huge forest area in the city, where you can ride kayaks, visit a goat farm with children and eat pancakes in Boerderij Meerzicht.
In spring you can walk to Kersenbloesem park and take pictures on the background of the cherry blossom garden. You can stay for a night at Zuiver Spa hotel and enjoy a real spa-evening with saunas and swimming pool, sit in the outdoor Jacuzzi.
The nine streets in the centre
Place of the most exclusive Dutch things for unusual shopping.
Eye Film Museum
One of the creative places in the city. Located opposite The Central Station across the wide river Ye. The road to it can be a small journey. You need to cross the river on a free ferry that runs every 5-10 minutes.
There are also four cinemas where you can watch Dutch and foreign films.
OT301
A cultural centre, anti-glamour in the design, vegetarian restaurant, workshops of artists, night club with underground parties and concerts. In the gallery on the top floor held exhibition, workshops, yoga lessons. You can stay for a night on the roof of the building.
ОССII
A squat, non-commercial music and parties. Cultural center from rock concerts to techno parties.
New Anita
A place for the soul! Recitals, theatre, exhibitions, cinema. The schedule can be found on the website.
