Uzbekistan is implementing water supply projects with France worth €340 million

Uzbekistan plans to involve the private sector more actively in developing sewage networks. This year, 1600 km of water supply and 521 km of sewage networks will be installed, providing clean water to 715 000 people and sewage services to 135 000 households. Additionally, 157 000 customers will receive modern water meters.

Agreements have been signed with French companies for three water supply projects in the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions, totaling €340 million. Suez, for example, will manage water supply in Denau, Shurchi, Sariasia, and Kumkurgan, aiming to extend centralized water coverage to 90% of the region.

To boost private sector participation in sewage services, tenders with international organizations will be expedited, with $850 million worth of work planned by the end of the year.

The Asian Development Bank will provide $125 million for water supply digitalization. By 2030, 4800 "smart" meters and 2800 telemetry systems will be installed, with maintenance gradually transferred to private companies.
