We continue the format of articles for the Travel column, where I share the best places in amazing cities of the world with my friends. In this article, my friend Madina @madinassn will share her favorite places in Dubai.
Madina Seisenova, 27, Dubai, Master's student at Middlesex University Dubai, blogger, @madinassn
In January 2024, I entered the Master's program at the British Middlesex University, one of whose campuses is located in Dubai. I spend most of my time studying and in my free time exploring the city and its surroundings.
Dubai is one of the most popular destinations for those who want to escape the lingering winter and cold. This city combines luxurious beaches, impressive skyscrapers, futuristic architecture and oriental charm.
You will want to return to Dubai again and again, as each time it opens for travelers from a new side. If you have plans to visit this place and see not only Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, this article will be useful for you, because the choice of entertainment and beautiful locations here is so great that you can easily get confused.
I will note an important and positive aspect of this city — Dubai ranks 11th in the world in terms of safety according to Numbeo rating: there is low crime and a high level of well-being of residents.
My favorite areas in Dubai are Downtown, Business Bay and Jumeirah. More details about the beautiful locations in these neighborhoods will follow below.
BOGA
Boga Superfoods is my favorite fine dining restaurant in Dubai. The menu is amazing with a wide range of choices and delicious dishes. I will note impeccable and attentive service. All guests of this place are treated with low-calorie popcorn and other exquisite compliments. This establishment is located in two locations: on City Walk in the Downtown area, and on Bay Avenue in the Business Bay area.
%arabica
I recommend trying coffee at the popular Japanese coffee shop %arabica. Once you try coffee here, you run the risk of becoming a coffee critic. Professional baristas will brew you the best coffee from the bean varieties you want — and there are a lot of them here. The modernized design and friendly service will not leave you indifferent. I love coming to %arabica, ordering a kyoto latte and immersing myself in my studies on my computer.
Opus Tower by Zaha Hadid
The Opus by Zaha Hadid is a unique complex designed as a giant glass cube formed by two adjacent towers. The Opus by Zaha Hadid houses luxury apartments and office space, as well as the first ME by Melia hotel in the Middle East. The complex is striking and impressive in its futuristic nature. You can come here for inspiration, enjoy the architecture and work on your computer in the local coffee shops.
Verde Beach Dubai
What's Dubai without beach clubs? My favorite beach club is Verde Beach. A beach club with French roots — the first club was opened in Saint-Tropez — it blends the atmosphere of the Côte d'Azur with a boho style space. This club has a gorgeous view of the local landmark, the Burj Al Arab sail.
Zaatar W Zeit
For lovers of junk food and home delivery I can recommend: Zaatar W Zeit. Here you will cook excellent shawarma, you will lick your fingers! The menu is simple, but all the items are insanely delicious and the prices are affordable. You will find more than 20 branches of Zaatar W Zeit in Dubai.
Keturah
The place where I gain strength, rest my mind and body is Keturah Reserve. It is a quiet place in the center of Dubai with a country atmosphere and extremely beautiful parks. In the parks planted a large number of olive trees and from the beauty seen, it really takes your breath away. There are also a lot of different restaurants and coffee shops.
Nightlife in Dubai
My personal top 3:
Soho Garden is a giant entertainment complex. The place combines the creativity of an urban cafe immersed in a green garden and a nightclub.
There are several open-air bars with different types of cuisines. But the most interesting thing is inside the institution itself, namely night club Code — it is a huge platform where the best DJs from all over the world fly in and delight tourists and residents of Dubai with their fresh musical sets.
The African restaurant Amazonico is a real jungle in the middle of Dubai's skyscrapers.
The restaurant occupies three floors. Fans of al fresco dining can sit on a cozy rooftop terrace overlooking the skyscrapers. Cool DJs always play here and the atmosphere at Amazonico is truly unique.
Clap is a trendy fine dining Japanese restaurant in the heart of Dubai.
This place, like the two previous ones, should be booked in advance and is worthy of a separate visit. Starting from the friendly service to the fashionable interior, everything in this place is impeccable.
