KazNUI: The atmosphere is always creative and fussy!

Kazakh National University of Arts was established on the foundation of the Kazakh National Academy of Music in 2008. The university was moved to the new building in 2011.

The main task is to provide the country with highly qualified professionals to modernize and cultivate culture and arts.

Students study culturology, art criticism, painting, sculpture, producing, cinematography, and scenography.

The structure is as follows:

— Faculty of Music

— Faculty of Traditional Arts

— Faculty of Theatre, Film and TV

— Faculty of Art

— Faculty of History of Kazakhstan and Humanities.

There’re 6 floors in the new building. The first floor has two concert halls. The big one is designed for 427 seats. Concerts, performances, and open student events are held here. Our students pass their finals by getting up concerts, performances and shows.

The small hall with 145 seats is designed for small events. The halls are never empty, as rehearsals are held there all the time.

There’re three film pavilions as well. Students of the film and TV department study 8 different specialties including producing, cinematography and others. Our students have the opportunity to work with modern photo and video equipment.

Also the acting department students have two large educational theaters equipped so that students can get up full-fledged performances, work on their finals.

There’re classrooms, students dining room, and an art gallery with our graduates’ works: paintings, wood and metal engravings.

The second floor is mainly occupied by administrative and methodical classrooms.

On the third floor there’s a library and lecture halls, where classes on general disciplines are regularly held.

The fourth floor is occupied by pianists’, violinists’, windmills’ and folk singers’ classrooms.

The fifth floor is for the students of the traditional musical art, vocal art, musicologists departments.

On the sixth floor you can see painters and costumers, students of stage design studying scenography, theatrical engineering, lighting, stage design and creating scenic design for performances. As a result, they exhibit their works as stage decoration.

Classes are held from early morning till late evening. The atmosphere is always creative and fussy. Students sometimes rehearse right in the corridors. Each student has general and individual schedules. Students tend to rehearse in free classrooms when they have no classes.
