Kyzylorda
— The majority of Kyzylorda population is Kazakhs. Now there’re more than 250 thousand Kazakhs that stands for 95% of total population.
— Rice is grown in Kyzylorda. The record high volumes of the harvest are grown here.
— The Syrdarya river freezes only for a couple of months, it’s suitable for use on the farm for 10 months.
— According to the legends, Korkyt Ata, the creator of the kobyz, lived on the bank of the Syrdarya. There’s now a monument dedicated to him by the mausoleum. The Korkyt Ata Memorial is near Kyzylorda.
Turkistan
— One of the most popular historical monuments is the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi located in Turkistan
— About half of the population are Uzbeks living in Turkestan and its environs.
— Anyway, all the residents speak Kazakh well, regardless of their nationality
— Turkistan is a gastronomic capital of Kazakh cuisine
— Turkistan is a historical sight visited by a huge number of foreigners from Asia and Europe who are interested in medieval Kazakhstan.
Taraz
— Taraz is the greenest city in the South Kazakhstan
— Here you can meet many Turks who came in the past and stayed there to live
— Taraz residents are positive and active, but not as fussy as Shymkent residents
— People in Taraz speak southern regions dialects. However, it’s not as rude as in Kyzylorda.
— Taraz is rich with phosphorus. Most of Kazakhstan's phosphorus is produced in the Zhambyl region.
Taldykorgan
— Taldykorgan is an administrative and industrial center of Almaty region
— "Zhetysu" football club from Taldykorgan is one of the strongest in Kazakhstan
— Ilyas Dzhansugurov, an outstanding Kazakh poet, was born in Zhetisu. There’s the Palace of Culture, a literary museum and a monument dedicated to him in Taldykorgan.
— There’s the largest Korean diaspora here. They’re the third largest ethnic group after Kazakhs and Russians.
— Taldykorgan residents are believed to be harsh and formidable, but they’re friendly and hospitable.
