From the colors of the East to modernity: Uzbek designers are inspired by traditional culture and the clothing brands they choose.
Madina Polatova, 35 years old, Tashkent city, designer, founder of Circle eco wear, @madina_polatova_m, @circle.ecowear
About me
I am a mother of four children. I am studying at the institute, I created the first brand of eco-friendly hemp clothing in Uzbekistan.
Style in Uzbekistan today
Many brands in Uzbekistan are focused on creating clothes with national ornaments. Designers sew their models from local fabrics. I like designers who can combine Uzbek fabrics with a modern style. It's always interesting.
I am inspired by the fashion ideas of many designers. Some of them choose eco-friendly fashion, which is also pleasing.
The most striking innovation is the arrival of Inditex on the Uzbek market. Now the market will change dramatically. Many small producers will disappear. There will be more competition, the quality of the product will increase. Local designers will have to raise the quality level of products so that their goods remain liquid.
About trends
I like that many global brands are moving towards eco-friendly consumption. For example, you can see that Massimo T-shirts are made from recycled or organic cotton. And the 12 STOREEZ brand creates high-quality products. I hope that fashion in Uzbekistan will change in accordance with what is becoming important all over the world.
In Uzbekistan, I am most inspired by the works of Nigora Hashimova, and abroad by Stella McCartney.
Davronjon Murodzhonov, 23 years old, Tashkent city, designer, @davron.murad
About me
I have been interested in fashion design from an early age. He inherited his talent from his mother. It was thanks to her that I got into creative work.
In 2016, I was accepted to the Kokand College of Fine and Applied Arts in the field of Painting. After graduating from college with honors, in 2019 I entered the faculty of Costume Design at the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry. I have strengthened my knowledge in the field of design at this institute in the hands of demanding and experienced teachers.
During his student years, he worked in collaboration with several well-known brands: @shahzoda__atelier, @atelier, @atelier_budur and @porso _. Each of my workplaces has become a special school of excellence. I have gained a lot of experience, for which I am grateful to every brand owner.
I am currently working under my own brand, Davron MURAD. I have a huge team behind this name. Also, many people know me as an illustrator and teacher. To date, I have trained more than 300 students and continue to teach.
Style in Uzbekistan today
Style is what has become a trend in modern Uzbekistan. We can see its diversity in the culture of clothing. For example, the style of clothing of residents of Chilanzor district differs from the style of clothing of residents of the center. This is due to the fact that there is a problem of understanding the essence of the words trend and style and the inability to distinguish them from each other. Style is not a trend! Style is individuality. Everyone can reflect their inner world and views through their appearance.
A modern designer is different from a designer five years ago. Among the modern founders of brands, you can see those who use traditional, even antique style and try to integrate it into the modern world. Some young people abuse this and in their first collections turn to adras, satin fabrics. This is the reason why they don't grow.
About trends
There is no limit to new ideas. The fashion industry does not stand still — it changes and develops every day.
My favorite local premium brands are: @saadiatelier, @dildorakasimovaofficial, @davron.murad.couture. I like ZARA and Bershka from the mass market.
