The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan held official meetings with the heads of leading UK universities.
From 23 to 25 January 2025, a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by minister Sayasat Nurbek visited a number of higher education institutions in the UK. During the visit, the Minister held meetings with the leaders of prominent universities, including Cardiff, Glasgow and Heriot-Watt Universities.
On 23 January, visited Cardiff University, where he held talks with the University President, Wendy Larner. The meeting covered ways to strengthen cooperation in research and academic exchanges, as well as the potential for joint educational programmes.
The following day, a visit to the University of Glasgow, a leading institution within the Russell Group, took place. During the meeting, plans for further cooperation in higher education were discussed. The University of Glasgow has expressed its intention to open a branch on the basis of one of Kazakhstan's universities, which will be an important step in the development of international educational partnerships.
On 25 January, the Minister visited Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, which has a long-term partnership with Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov. The meeting focused on current projects and opportunities to expand cooperation in research and educational initiatives.
The visit of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, was an important step in strengthening international cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UK in the field of science and higher education.
