How to get a visa to Tajikistan

Planning to visit Tajikistan? The process is straightforward if you follow the official guidelines. Here's a brief overview of how to apply, what documents you need, and what to do in special cases like visiting restricted regions or correcting errors.

Basic requirements

A valid passport with at least six months remaining from your planned entry date is required. Each applicant must submit their own visa request, even if traveling as part of a group. Applications are submitted online and finalized through the Tajik embassy in your country or the nearest one.

Visa fees

The cost depends on the embassy and the applicant’s nationality. Prices vary and are set by the embassy handling your application. The amount of the consular fee for consideration of the evisa application is about 50$, with GBAO permit about 70$

Visa Types and Permits

The e-Visa allows short-term stays of up to 60 days. If you're visiting the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, you’ll need a special permit along with your visa. Be aware that Tourist visas cannot be extended, and overstaying any visa may lead to fines, deportation, or future bans.

Entry and extension

Visa holders can enter Tajikistan through any official border point. If you wish to stay longer than your visa allows, you can apply for an extension at the Main Consular Department in Dushanbe. However, Tourist visas cannot be extended.

Application process

You can apply online no earlier than five working days before your trip. To track your status, use the “Manage Your Application” section on the portal. If you don’t receive an email, check your spam folder or ensure your email was entered correctly.

Official portals only

Only use the official websites for your visa: visa.gov.tj and evisa.tj. Many third-party sites charge extra service fees and are not affiliated with the Tajik government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not take responsibility for any problems caused by those platforms.
