About art

I have been drawing since childhood. When I was a little girl, I liked to put an apple, carrots, flowers on the table and draw it all, I liked to draw still lifes. Later I entered Tbilisi Academy of Arts, faculty of monumental painting. I graduated in 1997 and since I have been working at exhibitions. During my studies, I started participating in personal and group exhibitions in Georgia.

Many people say that I am different due to my style. It is present realism and modern. It took time to find my own style. You lose your style while studying in Academy, but it comes over the years. After all, even now I have not finished the search, always looking for something new.

I've painted a lot of paintings in my life and I sold a lot. I don't often hold exhibitions, this year this is the third exhibition. I exhibit in different galleries, and not only in Georgia. Before Kazakhstan, the previous exhibition was in February in Italy. The number of paintings at exhibitions can be different, depending on the gallery — if it fits 10, I'm taking 10.

Every exhibition is of great importance to me. But I can mention the very first solo exhibition, which was held at the Embassy of America when I was 17-18 years old. I brought the paintings, put them up and left. I was told that the exhibition will last a week, and if something sells it is good, and if not, I need to take it back. Then there were no mobile phones, and I was not contacted for a week, and when I came in a week, I found that none of my paintings was left, all were sold. At that time for me, a young girl, it was a pleasant shock, it was my first fee. In those paintings mostly were depicted landscapes of Georgia and still lifes. We have a country house in Georgia, where I liked to go to the forest or to the fields and to draw. After this exhibition, I was published in magazines.

For all the time there was no situation when I couldn't sell anything at the exhibition. But all that not sold I keep in the workshop for myself.

About Astana

20180914-WED_6556.jpg

I am first time in Astana. I'm impressed and didn't expect to see something like this. I liked the city. We visited the EXPO and were very impressed, especially the sphere. It feels that it is a new city, everything building, so everything is beautiful.

I came to Astana by the invitation of Astana Ballet theatre, where the national ballet "Sukhishvili" was also invited to perform. The representatives of the theatre wanted the guests to enjoy the paintings of Georgian artists before the performance, so my works were exhibited in the foyer of the theatre.

The series of paintings I brought to Astana is called "Windows and doors". When I was doing an exhibition of these works in Georgia, it was called Yellow, because one of the paintings in this series depicted an open window of two meters on a yellow background. But I sold that painting.

I'm in town for one day, so I haven't seen and tried much yet. But there are plans to try Kazakh cuisine. I was also invited to the gallery of contemporary art TSE Art, and also we were contacted by the art factory "Hydra" about a possible exhibition on their territory.
